The Journey Of 5 Years

The biggest step in our lives all through the 5 years, he started his schooling. He is doing great at school. He has been a real superhero in his class keeping the cheerful smile always. The good thing is he is enjoying with his peers at school. He gets socialised very well.He always comes up with a can-do attitude and a powerful smile. Being his mother sometimes I get deprived about his condition. His determination and his words give me strength. His smile gives us lots of energy.  I pray the god that he continues his schooling like any other child to have the experience of learning.

I am glad he has immense support at school from his teachers. Sometimes he is bit cheeky and tough to handle, but the teachers are patient enough, in showing good progress. Without their support and care, he wouldn't have made it.

Pranav had a fabulous birthday last week at home with friends and well-wishers cheerful wishes. He was so happy and excited about his birthday party. All he wanted was some balloons, a decoration,  a birthday cake and most importantly to have the people(or friends he likes) around.

He had a surgery for Hypospadias when he was 15 months old. That period was painful for three of us. He has seen painful moments in life. He had to spend in the hospital for few nights with lots of pain and struggle. All those struggles disappear when he smiles. All those struggles worth when he put his first step.  He does assistive walking with his walker. Oh, I must tell about his walking or first steps experience.

Today he is able to do the assistive walking. Without his determination and struggle, it wouldn't be possible. And the most important support I got from is, his physiotherapist Dr.Kiranmayi. During our holiday period in 2015 to India, we met her. Her immense support and determination made Pranav do his first steps. She is the real motivation for us. I am really proud of Pranav, as he took his first step without starting the actual treatment like botox or surgeries.

We still have to do a lot for his physical independence. Pranav is going to take Botox for the first time on May 10th(tomorrow). Botox is a temporary treatment(an injection) which makes his leg muscles soften and loosen for 6 months. This 6 month period is crucial for us as he needs an intensive physio during this period. I Hope he gets more independence with the next step of his treatment.
